Master Gardener Darlene Lochbihler, certified arborist Jason Housworth and Lynden's Bob Retko were in to plan the tree walk that will take place at 11 am on Saturday, February 26 as part of the Winter Carnival. After some alarming stories from Bob about how the largest trees made their way to Lynden in the 1920s and 1930s, the group decided to focus on the role of trees in the winter landscape. We thought this article might interest the winter gardeners out there: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/10/garden/10garden.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=winter%20garden&st=cse

We are hoping to offer seasonal tree tours that cover a range of topics, both practical and aesthetic, and allow you to take a good look at the trees as they cycle through the year.
