Lynden is offering a series of holiday giftmaking workshops between November 22 and December 14. They range from simple activities suitable for families with smaller children to more advanced workshops for adults. To enhance the celebratory spirit, we will have light refreshments available for participants. Whether you are making a gift for yourself or another, these workshops should provide a cheerful atmosphere for art making as we head into winter. To see a complete list of holiday giftmaking workshops, visit our Workshops page.

The warm glow of an illuminated paper lamp is magical and comforting. Choosing from a variety of handmade papers and gathered natural materials, each student will construct a simple, beautiful, fully functional lamp. Basic lamp wiring will be taught as part of this course, and all materials are provided.

About David Moss

David Moss is a physician and artist who has been making lamps out of paper and natural materials for more than 15 years. He has been an invited artist at the Mallard Island Individual Artist Retreat in Rainy Lake, Minnesota. He is enchanted by the alchemy that transforms ordinary paper into an object of glowing beauty with a flip of a switch. Over the years, his lampmaking practice has developed in two directions. One is the zen-like pursuit of simplicity, resulting in healing lamps that he gives away. The other is the creation of one-of-a kind table and floor lamps, sconces, and large illuminated sculptures.
