About Radical Jewelry Makeover
Radical Jewelry Makeover (RJM) is a community jewelry mining and recycling project of Ethical Metalsmiths that uses donated jewelry. The project encourages consideration of the social and environmental impacts of mining and jewelry production. RJM draws public attention to the creativity and skills of jewelry designers, reveals the stories behind our personal collections and encourages re-consideration of our habits of consumption. Jewelers and students have donated their time and skills to this community focused project over the past few months. Student participants from UW-Milwaukee have been engaged in a Special Topics course run by Michael Dale Bernard, which focuses on creating jewelry that utilizes the RJM donations for various pop-ups and online shops in addition to participating in the RJM:WI Exhibition. These activities will raise funds to support the mission of Radical Jewelry Makeover and student scholarships.
