Hyperlocal MKE #13 – Easement

Performers include: Tim Russell, Olivia Valenza, Maria Gillespie, Joelle Worm, Kayla Flentje, Emily Barsch, Chanteé Kelly and Special Guests: Margaret Paek and Loren Dempster from Lawrence University.

This performance is in conversation with Women, Nature, Science: Cecelia Condit: Tales of a Future Past. The prompt “easement” leads the performers through an investigation that examines how we enter a landscape (micro and macro) without possessing it.

Hyperlocal MKE is a performance ensemble dedicated to interdisciplinary improvisation performance practice. Co-directors Maria Gillespie (choreographer) and Tim Russell (composer) formed the group in 2014 to commemorate a commitment to experimentation. Composers, choreographers, and digital media artists from Milwaukee gather regularly to make performances in different spaces throughout the city. The rotating roster of collaborating performers, venues, and subject matter create a continual exchange of artistic practices dedicated to the unknown, the unruly, and certainly the unexpected, while bringing improvisation methods and practices to different parts of the city.
