Homeschool Day: Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities

May 18, 2017 - 9:00am - 2:00pm

Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities
Thursday, May 18, 2017 - 9 am-2 pm
Ages: 6-15
Fee: $45/$35 members
Registration closed.

Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities is artist Fo Wilson's interpretation of what an imaginary mid-nineteenth-century enslaved woman might have collected in her living quarters. The structure on Lynden's grounds is both slave cabin and cabinet of curiosities, a place to consider the history of slavery as well as the way our memory of the past can shape the future. Like Eliza, we will create our own collections of objects, each of which tells a story, and compile our own field notes.

Registration deadline for all Homeschool Days is one week prior. Space is limited, please register early.
Dress appropriately for the weather; much time will be spent outdoors in all seasons.
