Lynden’s Refugee Steering Committee invites you to mark World Refugee Day with a live virtual event on Facebook celebrating the launch of our HOME virtual platform. Because we cannot gather in person this year for an outdoor festival to celebrate Milwaukee’s refugee communities through art, food, and performance, we have chosen to launch a web-based platform that continues our work of building a space of leading, of coming together, and of celebrating refugees.

The HOME platform will host regular programming from cook-offs, to concerts, to panel discussions. It will provide resources for refugees in our community and highlight the work of individual refugees and refugee-led organizations. It will also serve as an archive for past work: HOME 2019, the Conversations on Displacement and the Arts series, and more.

The launch event will feature music by Golden Melody Band (U.S.A), led by Mohammad Hasan alongside Moe Aung from the Burmese community. Hasan catches his audience with international music, including oldies and classical rock, in English, Hindi, and Myanmar.

HOME 2020 is supported in part by the Brico Fund and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
