Join master choreographer Pina Bausch's fans and people all over the world as we perform the NELKEN-Line in Milwaukee.

“Lines” are a recurring and characteristic element in many of Pina Bausch's pieces: sequences of movement with repetitive steps and gestures that the dancers perform standing in a long queue. The Pina Bausch Foundation goes one step further with its project “The NELKEN-Line” by inviting groups of dancers and dance lovers from all over the world to dance the best-known line in all of Pina Bausch’s works--“Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter” from “Nelken” (1982)—and to share the videos on the foundation’s website.

MKE Dance Theatre Network is organizing the local iteration of this year-long global project, and invites anyone and everyone that would like to take part to gather at Lynden to share Bausch's iconic choreography. The sequence is comprised of four different gestures that represent each of the four seasons and is performed in a line that will travel through the garden.

Wear comfortable clothing, suitable footwear, and bring an umbrella in case of light rain.

Join the line:
You can learn the sequence directly from long-time Tanztheater Wuppertal member Julie Anne Stanzak here: https://vimeo.com/219686975
We will teach/review the gestures with all participants at each location.
