Garden Path was created by Paul Druecke in 2014 as a way to connect integral parts of the Lynden experience that might be overlooked. The most significant of these was the people whose vocation it was to maintain the grounds and sculptures.
We're expanding this idea in 2025 with the creation of the Friends of Garden Path. We launch the Friends with a day to recognize the efforts of volunteers, whose work is increasingly significant for cultural institutions. Lynden’s staff has been restoring the path, and we’ll help them add the finishing touches: smoothing/grading the path, putting down a paper weed barrier, and mulching the path from end to end.
We’ll celebrate with snacks and a slideshow, and we’ll trade favorite Lynden stories and make plans for next year’s celebration. In 2026 we will honor Bob Retko, Lynden’s long time land manager. Bob, since retired, worked with Paul on Garden Path back in 2014.
Tools, gloves, and snacks will be provided. Please dress for the weather.
