Let’s Make Together! is designed for children aged 3 -5 and their adults. Annalesa Albright brings together her nature, craft, and parenting skills for a series of hands-on, age-appropriate making workshops. Art-making can be messy, and the group will spend time outdoors whenever possible, so please dress appropriately.
October 21: Nature Play Dough
Take your play dough-making to the next level with our mix-in station offering a combination of dried florals, herbs, safe dyes, and essential oils. We’ll start with a short walk to the garden to smell and touch the plants we will use, then we’ll make a fresh batch of warm playdough to activate our senses and, of course, play. You will go home with your very own jar of play dough and a recipe for making more.
November 18: Magical Wand
Everyone needs a magical wand for imaginary play. We’ll create ours using sticks, string, bells, and other magical adornments. Then we’ll go outside to activate its magic powers in nature. This project will require some finer skills, so be prepared for some intergenerational collaboration.
December 16: Solstice Candle
Let’s welcome back the light by adorning a very special winter solstice candle and candlestick. We will read a solstice book, talk about the days getting longer, and enjoy a snack together. You will take home a candle to light on the winter solstice, and many nights thereafter.
About Annalesa Albright
Annalesa Albright has been a member of Lynden’s land team for five years. Her passions are gardening, exploring nature, and crafting (knitting, nature crafts, sewing). Using natural materials in her projects is very important to her. She has a formal education in local food systems and has spent years building her knowledge of local flora and fauna. Annalesa has a two-year-old daughter and is always finding ways to incorporate her passions into her parenting. She is eagerly sharing this confluence of interests with the Lynden community in Let’s Make Together!, a new series of workshops for 3-5-year-olds and their adults, and by hosting the monthly Knit @ Lynden group.
