Residency

The Lynden Sculpture Garden Residency Program is designed to enable artists to immerse themselves in Lynden’s sculpture collection, its landscape and the surrounding community for an extended period as they undertake research or make temporary outdoor work. Our primary interest is in temporary outdoor work ranging from the three-dimensional to performance, and in hosting artists who are working, as we are, at the intersection of art and nature.

The program has three central goals: to develop Lynden as a laboratory and resource for artists; to open a dialogue between working artists and the public; and to reframe the permanent collection of monumental outdoor sculpture.

The residency program has two components: long term residencies on the grounds for artists coming from a distance, and extended relationships with local artists who engage with Lynden and its publics over a period of time, mostly commonly across four seasons.

Although our primary emphasis is on visual artists, we also host artists working in other disciplines.

Residencies at the Lynden Sculpture Garden have been supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helveti, the Cultural Service of the Consulate General of France in Chicago, and the Mairie de Paris.
