Run de Echo
A Performance with Anna Martine Whitehead

Saturday, September 17, 2016, 5 pm

Tickets: $12/$10 members. Register by phone at 414-446-8794.

Chicago-based performance artist Anna Martine Whitehead responds to Fo Wilson's project, Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities with an improvisational movement and masquerade score. A meditation on the spiritual labor of Blackness, Run de Echo is an immersive movement work considering time travel, ancestor worship, possession, and the divine. The piece--a variation on a larger work Whitehead is developing in residence at Links Hall in Chicago--moves across the Lynden landscape, repurposing each location as a potent site for conjuring.

The performance lasts approximately 40 minutes and involves walking to several locations.

About Anna Martine Whitehead

Anna Martine Whitehead is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist and choreographer. She produces solo and collaborative work that interrogates race, gender, and utopia, and tests the limits of performance. She creates wearable sculptures and uses found objects to build work about the body and the absence of the body in space.

About the Project

Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities is a collaboration with the Chipstone Foundation and is made possible through the generous support of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation, Columbia College Chicago, and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
