Kites Over Lynden: A Day for Art and Flying

May 15, 2016 - 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Free to members or with admission to the sculpture garden.

Kite makers, flyers, artists and art lovers of all ages are invited to celebrate the arrival of spring with an afternoon of events and activities. Drop in to the studio to make and decorate simple, earth-friendly kites with help from Lynden artists-in-residence. For the bodies, we'll use material made from recycled plastic bags provided by Yevgeniya Kaganovich and the grow crew. From 12-1:30 pm, Pat Hidson and Tori Tasch will help you create a tail using the cyanotype process, recycled cloth, and natural materials found in the vicinity. Need a break from flying your kite? Pick up a DIY plein air painting box and head outside for some art making. At 3 pm, Hidson and Tasch formally unveil their installation in the birch grove, part of their residency project, Journeys in a Garden. Treats will be shared!
