Saturday, August 6, 2016, 4 pm-sunset (the formal part of the evening takes place in the first 2 hours; it becomes informal thereafter)

I Am Brotha' to the Daughter, Keeper of the Dust
A Performance with Viktor Le

Tickets: $20 adults/$10 children; includes a meal. Seating is extremely limited, and tickets must be purchased by calling 414-446-8794. The artist has asked that attendees wear off-white clothing.

We are planning four performances in conjunction with Fo Wilson's exhibition, Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities. This second performance features Viktor Le who will, with the help of collaborators Adam Zanolini, Xris Copal and J. M. Ewing, re-imagine the picnic scene from Julie Dash's seminal film, Daughters of the Dust. We will begin with a toast that evolves into a performance ritual, followed by a picnic prepared by the artist.

Viktor Le will also be offering a workshop while in residence at Lynden.

About Viktor Le

Viktor L. Ewing-Givens is a found object-performance based installation artist who gathers ancestral objects in order to activate spaces for site-specific rituals. Through the accumulation of these rich cultural materials, he creates spaces that act as temples: temples of resistance, temples of the temporal, temples of anthropological speculation and temples for the activation of memory in relation to African American cultural/spiritual retentions and continuities. He is currently based in Chicago where he studies Interdisciplinary Arts at Columbia College Chicago.
