Winter Light
Thursday, January 18, 2018 - 9 am-2 pm
Ages: 6-15
Fee: $45/$35 members

Gary John Gresl’s installation, The Body Farm at Lynden, considers the ephemerality of the materials he uses to make his assemblage sculptures and, by extension, the works themselves. We will visit these shrine-like works with the artist to observe the effect of the winter climate on the installation. In the studio and workshop, we will use found objects to make our own hibernal installations. We’ll make candles in the studio and use hand tools in the shop to fashion wooden candelabra.

Registration deadline for all Homeschool Days is one week prior. Space is limited, please register early.
Dress appropriately for the weather; much time will be spent outdoors in all seasons.

Spring Session

January 11-May 17, 2018
Thursdays, 2:30-5 pm
Ages 6-11

Drop into our studio for informal art exploration. Come for 30 minutes or stay for 2 1/2 hours; visit weekly or stop by when you need an after-school activity; bring a friend or sibling or try it on your own. Each week we'll introduce different materials, processes and themes, and get you started on a project. We'll focus on three-dimensional artmaking--though we will also do plenty of painting, drawing and collaging--and make use of Lynden’s special resources: the collection of monumental sculpture and 40 acres of park, lake and woodland. Watch for occasional outdoor artmaking days, too.

Single Session: $11/$9 members
Art Drop-In Card: Any 8 sessions for $64/$48 members
