Visual Language - Understanding Abstraction
Grades 5-12
Visual language—which is often abstract rather than representational--can sometimes communicate more effectively and efficiently than words. A multimedia tour through abstract art, its signs and symbols, is followed by a hands-on art project designed to demystify abstraction. Participants use drawing and paper folding techniques to create an abstract three-dimensional form that conveys an aspect of their personal identity.
