Opening Reception: Innovative Educators Institute Summer Exhibition

July 28, 2017 - 5:00pm - 6:00pm

Free

The K-12 teachers participating in the annual summer laboratory of our Innovative Eductators Institute open an exhibition of the projects completed, indoors and out, during this summer's intensive, Narrating Space: Wandering, Encountering, Dwelling, Resonating. The Institute, a collaboration between the Lynden Sculpture Garden, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Art Education program, and MPS, recruits cross-disciplinary teams of K-12 teachers from selected schools to participate in hands-on experiences and artistic dialogues with curators, artists, naturalists, and UWM faculty with the aim of developing curriculum that uses their discoveries at Lynden to teach through the arts. The Institute is a component of ArtsECO, a UWM initiative funded by the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation that focuses on sustaining arts education by building a strong network of support for pre-service, early service, and veteran teachers equipped to "teach through the arts." The exhibition remains on view through August 6.
